FINAL: isolation/suffocation
The final assignment for this class was open ended but had to show our proficiency in using the studio equipment and technical skills learned during the semester. I chose to do a series of conceptual portraits that represented my personal feelings of suffocation, isolation, and loneliness during the pandemic. The first image is representative of the amount of time I spent stuck in bed, feeling like there was nothing I could do but sleep. It also symbolizes the fatigue that has burdened me during the pandemic, with the stress of online school and dread from the amount of death heard about in the news. The second image was intended to be the clearest symbol of suffocation as a prevalent feeling during 2020. The third image represents the oversaturation of technology and reliance on social media during my time being isolated at home. For lighting, I used two strobes with large softboxes in different positions for each photo.
